Press Release

Mar 2005 - World Book Day : Giving and Receiving

Thursday 3rd March 2004 is the UK's and Ireland's annual celebration of books and reading.

The 'Choose2Reuse' campaign is responding to World Book Day by calling on the public to donate their old books to one of the many charity shops in their local area. To find your nearest local charity shop that accepts books, go to www.charityshops.org.uk.

If you enjoy reading and fancy a new story, visit your local charity shop where you will find a varied selection of pre-owned books.

By donating and receiving books to and from charity shops you will be:

  • Supporting the many valuable causes the shops raise money for
  • Saving yourself money by buying quality books at a cheaper price
  • Helping reduce the amount of paper that is taken to landfill

If your books are damaged or just showing their age, then you can recycle these through your local council's kerbside collection or take them to your nearest local recycling centre and place them in your paper collection bins.

To find out more about your local recycling services, contact your Council's Recycling Officer.
